I would like to introduce you to my fur babies. “Axl” a German Shepherd and “Fudge” a cockapoo. I adore these boys. Axl is 3 years old and Fudge still a baby at only just 1.
I don’t know if anyone else’s GSD is needy but Axl most certainly is. Obviously we can’t give him 24/7 attention, so I had the brainwave idea of getting him a companion of the K9 world. I whined at Pete to let me have another dog, every time I asked, no was the reply. Being a woman I don’t take no for answer. So I persisted in asking him, pleaded, posted photos of cockapoo’s on his Facebook wall, sulked, I did it all. Like hell was I giving up. I wanted another dog and I was going to have one. For a year I kept up the whining, the pleading, the begging, the sulking.
I can’t remember exactly how the conversation came up, but we were sitting having a coffee together. Totally out of the blue, he said he wouldn’t mind a terrier. That was my moment. We started looking. Now I love dogs, any dogs, but a terrier wasn’t one I had my heart set on for Axl. He found some, I emailed the woman. She mailed back informing me all the pups had gone. I pouted, looked sad. Batted my eyelashes, that was when victorious moment came, “ok ok” he groaned, “you can have a cockapoo”. Within minutes we found one. We both choose the same one. Next day we went to pick him up. Victory was mine and I was in love.
The moral of this story is never give up & for the fellas, never underestimate the perseverance of a woman. We will always win!
